Online Payment for Winter Indoor League II

What: LUFA indoor winter recreational league

Where: 
St. John Lutheran Church 901 Breckenridge Ln, Louisville, KY

Format: 4v4 Coed if possible

When: Mon & Wed nights 6:30pm – 9:30pm Feb 1 – Mar 10 EOST Mar 15 & 17

2 teams will play 2 nights per week. 2 teams will play 2 games 1 night per week and will alternate. If there are not enough players to field 6 teams, we will only have league on Wed nights.

How much: $40 per player Details: LUFA league is a pay-to-play co-ed sporting league. Indoor ultimate is a 4v4 game similar to outdoor ultimate. Changes include a reduced stall count and timed play. Games will be limited to 45 minutes with a 5 min half. The game ends when time is up (similar to basketball). Captains and team members will be notified on 01/31/10 of their team and schedule. Martin Young and Raymie Younkin will be co-managing the league.

 

Team captains are an integral part of LUFA leagues and are highly valued. If you are interested in being a captain for Winter League it would greatly be appreciated. Please be sure to sign up on the registration form. Questions can be sent to winter.league@louisvilleultimate.org .

 

Indoor Pick-up is being renewed for the second session and will be Thursdays at 6:30pm from January 14^th, 21^st, and 28^th. We will be playing again at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 901 Breckenridge Ln. Louisville, KY.

 

Winter League Session II will be on Wednesdays starting at 6:30pm from February 3^rd through March 17^th (EOST). The cost will be $40.00 and registration will open this week.

 

So, our scheme for field reservations for Fall League did not pan out, and we were left sort of high and dry.  Sadly, there will be no Fall League this year.  If you've got the itch, and Spring League seems an awfully long way away, come out to Cherokee at 2PM on Sundays, where pickup is alive and well.  Sorry for the disappointment, and we hope to have the kinks worked out in time for Fall League next year.  And FYI, we don't think that Spring or Summer League are threatened in any way. See you out at Cherokee!  Loomis

Louisville Metro Parks increases Fees

            You may have noticed that our prices have increased.  Let me explain our situation for those of you that missed the meeting in January.  Metro Parks has sharply increased the prices they are charging for field reservations.  In 2008 we paid Metro Parks about two thousand dollars for all of our field reservations.  Those included 3 leagues, three EOSTs, one HAT tourney, practice time for Evil and Cruella as well as pickup dates from February through November.  This year we paid two thousand dollars for Spring League reservations alone and thousands more for our other reservations!!!! 

Events are updated frequently. LUFA events are in Green and Holidays are in Red.

 

Youth Ultimate Update:

Evan and I attended the years first college tournament this weekend in Hardinsburg, KY.  Two Kentucky High School Ultimate teams were in attendance.  It was exciting to see young players taking to the game so quickly.  Evan and I would both be happy to help out any local teams or individual players in any way we can.  Anything from tournament information to skill development help, we would even be excited/willing to accompany your team on a weekend long tournament.  There are several upcoming tournaments in the region.  Write Evan or myself for information or just to chat.  Thanks and good luck to all highschool teams and players.

Previous youth ultimate posting:
Youth Ultimate is growing in Louisville. There are several High school teams around the city independently building momentum. Additionally just a short drive away there is a national’s caliber High school program at Lexington Catholic as well as a thriving High school Ultimate scene in Cincinnati. In order to encourage Youth Ultimate in Louisville, LUFA has created a Youth Ultimate Coordinator position. The captain of the U of L Ultimate team (Crash and Burn) has volunteered to fill this position. His name is Evan Boucher.
