Alright thanks for the info and do you know how i can get in contact with those people you mentioned for Cruell da ville and LouEvil?
in response to the Minnesota newcomer
Hello, my name is Davis, I'm a summer league veteran of 5 years now and I am currently a grad student at UofL. As far as your interest in LUFA, and Ultimate in general, you're enthusiasm is totally welcome here in Louisville. As you said in your post, UofL does not have a team currently, and that would be correct. In the past there has been a somewhat coherent group of students playing for UofL, but that is no longer the case. The reason for this is purely logistical. UofL students have found better teammates, greater wisdom of the game, and more experience all around in the local teams LouEvil (men's), and Cruella da Ville (coed), and the occasional women's team. Not to say that college play isn't great fun, because it is, however, here in Louisville at least, the city doesn't revolve around UofL like most colleges, rather, UofL revolves around the city. So, with that in mind, try to think of your Ultimate experience here in Louisville not as a college-centric experience, but more like a city-centric experience. To more directly answer your question, you will have no problem accessing the Ultimate community here in Louisvlle. As long as you're willing to participate you will always have a place to play. League play is "recreational," therefore it requires little knowledge of the game to participate. Furthermore, league is a year-round occurrence and is broken up into three seasons. In between seasons there's always the weekly pick-up at one of our local parks. So, Ultimate is always happening. On the other hand, if you want to play with some of the more competetive teams then you should contact Dan Ambrose/Raymie Younkin/Meghin Davis all figure-heads of the Cruella da Ville coed team, or for the men's team you should contact Steve Loomis. The local teams will travel for tournament play in the region, and in certain years put up for national's bids.Without much else to say, all I can tell you is that your Ultimate destiny is in the palm of your hands here in Louisville. Good Luck, and maybe I'll see you on the pitch.
