LUFA Vision Meeting Results

LUFA’s Vision for 2009

Louisville Metro Parks increases Fees

You may have noticed that our prices have increased.  Let me explain our situation for those of you that missed the meeting in January.  Metro Parks has sharply increased the prices they are charging for field reservations.  In 2008 we paid Metro Parks about two thousand dollars for all of our field reservations.  Those included 3 leagues, three EOSTs, one HAT tourney, practice time for Evil and Cruella as well as pickup dates from February through November.  This year we paid two thousand dollars for Spring League reservations alone and thousands more for our other reservations!!!!  It is a terrible thing they are doing to us and other organizations around the city.  We have been negotiating with them and have managed to obtain the field reservations we need for spring and summer leagues as well as practices for 2009.  Unfortunately in the process we have spent all the money we had put away for a rainy day over the last 6 years of LUFA existence.

Ways to combat the rise in Metro Parks Fees

  • Increase League Fees
  • Find Alternative Field Locations
  • Reduce Expenses
    • Focus on Ultimate
    • Reduce funding other activities such as EOST party, discs and shirts
  • Provide Incentives for Registrants
    • $5 rebate for new registrants
    • $5 rebate for students (with valid ID)
    • Continue reduced cost for paired registrations

Fields

LUFA is also looking for some different field options.  If you are privy to some knowledge on where and how to get access to some nice fields that we may be able to play on for cheap please let me know.  Email me : Hobart.yeager@gmail.com .  We are currently investigating several options including; moving one or more of our leagues or tournaments across the river to Jeffersonville parks, moving some of the EOSTs or leagues out to EP Tom Sawyer, or playing on some private property around the city.  I am sure we can find some cheaper field space than what Metro Parks is charging us.  please please please if you have some info or even an idea for field space options contact us and we can try to make this playing ultimate thing happen for everyone.
