Pre-Swill Ultimate action?Poultry Days has left me thirsting for more action, and I was just wondering if we were planning on attending any more tournaments between now and Swill. League + 1 practice a week just isn't enough. Scanning the UPA website, I see a few that are in range and look pretty awesome. Melissa (at PD) was telling us about Mars in Pitt which costs 300$ per team and happens July 02-04 (http://www.pittsburgh-ultimate.org/tournaments/mars/). For those who don't wish to travel quite so far, there is the Smoky Mtn tourney in Knoxville happening the same weekend (http://www.knoxvilleultimate.com/smut/). There is also Hoosier Hoedown in Bloomington the weekend after for 225$ per team (http://www.freewebs.com/iuultimate/index.htm). We should hit one or more of these up in my opinion to keep us sharp for Swill, because going to tournaments is fun, and because ultimate kicks ass. Someone with more experience, local clout and contacts should make the arrangements, but I thought I'd start the initiative.

Go Dan!
Dan, I admire your initiative in actually locating and researching tourneys on your own.
I will add one event to your list, which is No Surf In Cleveland. That's this weekend, and we don't have a bid, but the Lexington guys do, and they've asked if we can send anybody to round out their squad.
Incidentally, Bart and I picked up with the Lexington guys over Memorial Day weekend in Columbus, and we had a great time. They were good players, and nice guys.
Let me know (stephen dot loomis at mercer dot com) if you're interested in picking up with them.
Of the two tournaments over the weekend of Jul 2,3 I think SMUT in Knoxville is a better bet. I figured I would start beating the drum for that as soon as I finished my Poultry Days recap (which I sent moments ago).
Let me know (stephen dot loomis at mercer dot com) if you're interested in playing SMUT.
And finally, Hoosier Hoedown is indeed on our calendar. That's Jul 9,10 in Bloomington, and you'd better believe we're going.
