Winter LUFA?

So now we have an association; we can pool money to rent space, buy LUFA discs, etc. Has anyone considered renting indoor soccer space for a winter league? I don't have any idea how much that would cost (none of the indoor soccer places in town have websites), but I just thought I would throw it out there.

Hmm

It is really pricey to play inside, like, waay beyond reasonable. However, that doesn't mean we can't have ultimate. Maybe a series of winter workouts? And of course we have to defend our title at Winterfest.

I do love off-season, then

I do love off-season, then again I do love a lot of things

I haven't looked into it

I haven't looked into it personally. I think indoor ultimate would be great fun--probably at least 85% as fun as outdoor winter ultimate.

For my part, I'd hate to give up winter disc even for something fun and different like indoor disc. I LOVE playing on the cold nights and the snowy afternoons, and I know I'm not alone in this. And from the indoor soccer leagues I've heard tell of, it'd be priiiicey to play inside.

I also think there's good sense in having several months a year with no league going on. It encourages vigorous pickup, which is what got many of us into ultimate in the first place. And leagues tend to wear out the few folks who wind up running them every time. So yeah, I'd also be curious how much it'd cost to play inside, but mainly in a theoretical sense. For now, I'm all in favor of our focusing on creating good, lively pickup (and some tournaments) all winter long.
