Youth Leage?

I am under 16 and pretty mad that there isn't a local youth team! I know a lot of people like me who would like to play, but can't because of the age limit. I'm sure that a youth leage wouldn't totally bomb.

Youth Team

Last year, a couple of other Manual students and I had a team and we went down to Lexington and got chomped (not the point). Anyway, there was a team, but sadly since most of them were seniors, they are all gone. It would be easy to start a team at Manual, however. Just get in touch if this idea goes any further.

Youth Ultimate

here's my two-cents. for whatever it's worth.

Back in the day when I was in high school(circa 1999 or so), a bunch of high school hockey players got together to start a high school hockey league and then they really got ambitious and started a lacrosse league. from what i know, both leagues are still doing very well and may even be sactioned by the state high school association.

so what's my point? well i would banter your idea around with other high school kids. i know Saint X has an intramural league--although i don't know the quality of play. I have no idea what school you go to, but start there and then inquire at other schools. The only fully organized high school team I know of in Kentucky is Lexington Catholic. So, yeah, it's probably past time for the Louisville schools to get the ball moving. In my view, I think such a league could do well...

Youth League answers

Hey Mr. Disgruntled youth named Theknak (which is interesting by the way),

Youth league would be very cool. If you know of many people who would like to play, you should start one. Starting a youth league would make you really popular (look at me--I had no friends before I talked my boyfriend into running Spring league and now I have at least one friend AND a boyfriend), and you could learn a lot about reserving fields, keeping a bunch of people happy, and a lot about Ultimate.

I know of quite a few people who are already volunteering plenty of time to Louisville Ultimate who would probably give a youth league some of their time if you asked. YOu can also find some great information at: http://www2.upa.org/programs/youthdev
